Monrovia defeats Brownsburg 22 to 21 in a tight final to capture the invitational tournament. Brownsburg led 9-8 at halftime, Monrovia surged ahead in the second half, and a Tudor free throw sealed the one-point victory.
Plainfield and Brownsburg opened with a tight defensive battle. Sellers scored first, Fitch nailed a foul shot to end the first half, and the locals tied late before Brownsburg finished ahead 21 to 15.
Tudor opened scoring for Monrovia-Amo with a field goal. Slayton notched a foul after, then Wallace added a long shot from back of center. Amo fought hard but was outclassed, final score 30 to 11.
Plainfield opened with Slayton scoring from the line and on the floor. Glenn added a field goal to take the early lead as Amo built a 39 30 margin by game end. First half ended Amo ahead 21 18.
Brownsburg stunned Monrovia in a close finish as townsends cafe score cards helped note players. Joe Rhea of Amo wowed with dribbling though his shooting waned. Plainfield that never won a game shows grit as teams discuss an all tournament selection featuring Poland Glenn Tudor Rhea McCann.
The county meeting of the Knights of Pythias was held in Coatesville on Thursday night. Two esquires from Plainfield received knight rank by the degree. About 30 Plainfield delegates traveled in a special train. The next county meeting is set for February 22 in Danville, when knight rank will be exemplified and Grand Lodge officers will attend.
The Misses Thelma and Orrell Ness hosted a Saturday reception for the M. M. Club honoring patrons Mrs. Chester Pike Mrs. Horace Hanna and Miss Mayme Snipes. Tea featured green and white decor with Miss Mary Havens presiding, two girls in crepe paper costumes Annette Negus and Lucile James, and Sunburst roses as a centerpiece. Mary Sims sang and Helen Baldock accompanied. An informal luncheon followed for about one hundred guests and club members listed include Esther Vestal president and other officers and members.
The Rhode Island Reds of Fred Breedlove flourished at last week's Tomlinson hall show with four of five entrants placing: 5th cock bird 4th hen 1st pullet and 3rd young pen. Breedlove faced strong competition as the event was the state's largest Reds exhibit and he was re elected vice president of the State Red Club during the show.
Mr. and Mrs. Alva C. Harvey returned Monday afternoon after several weeks in California and the western states. They report an agreeable trip with visits to points of interest and note they have gained considerably in weight, a sign their travels were enjoyable.
L. T. Farabee broke his right arm last week while crossing a street in Indianapolis. He tripped and fell near his brother’s home as he started to visit. His arm is healing rapidly and he is comfortable most of the time.

John Lux acted as the corn judge at the Amo Farmers Institute show held last Friday. The event showcased local agriculture and featured prize judging for top corn entries.
W. F. Franklin urged Guilford Township Federation of Farmers to lower farm valuations as lands will be appraised this spring for four year taxation. He argued farm values are too high and not properly equalized with other property, winning unanimous support from farmers. Louis Taylor of Indianapolis spoke on cooperative marketing.
The Hendricks County Home Economics Federation holds an all day session at the courthouse in Danville on Saturday February 25. Mothers are asked to bring daughters to hear Grace King on The Value of Girls Club Work and Elizabeth Cowan discusses The Family and Its Money. The program includes vocal and violin solos, readings, a paper on planning meals, and a talk plus music. Lunch is provided. attendees should bring plates and silver. Morning session starts at 10 and afternoon at 1 30.
The Plainfield Mills will collect grain for Armenian relief on Friday and Saturday. A second drive by the Russian relief committee chaired by B W Anderson targets contributions for 15 6 million Russians aided by the American Friends Service Committee. A Beulah Hurley report describes harsh famine and exposure in Russia.
Local program showcases include Miles Standish courtship and Boston Tea Party tableaux. Performances feature figures like Franklin, Washington, Revere, and Green, with scenes from Valley Forge, the Declaration signing, and the Crossing. Admission 25¢ adults, 15c children under 12.
A $25 reward is offered for information leading to the arrest and conviction of the person or persons who removed the hay rope from the barn on the Osborn farm along Sugar Grove road south of Plainfield Indiana. Mrs Maud Bryant has returned home from Deaconess Hospital Indianapolis and is reported improving.

The Sugar Grove Economies Club held its February meeting with Mrs Ira Maxwell presiding. Miss Ruth Dix demonstrated. Guests included Mrs Albert Ashton, Mrs Alva Coble, Mrs Jane Newlin, and Mrs Cosner with Mrs Wm Moon. Next meeting will be an all-day event hosted by Mesdames Everett and Elgar Newlin. The Three Arts Department plans a meeting Saturday afternoon February 25. A business meeting occurred Friday afternoon with Mrs Warren Duke.
