Indiana Estates Law Guides Probate and Administrator Roles
Indiana laws grant circuit courts exclusive jurisdiction over estate settlements. Clerks appoint administrators and issue letters testamentary to named executors if competent. If no will or no qualification, administrators with the will annexed or default administrators are appointed, with priority given to widow or widower and next kin, then largest creditor, all within specified deadlines. Bond equal to double estate value required for each administrator or executor.
