The Plainfield community crowds to a Sunday 6 PM meeting at the Masonic Room 5 45 PM to organize baskets for the needy. Donations of food and chickens are urged with drop offs at Harvey and Son's and W A Rushton's rooms by Saturday noon. Friday donations appreciated. Baskets go out Saturday evening.
At 5 45 Sunday Dec 24 Plainfield will host a community Christmas tree and program in the Masonic room. Congregants assemble at 5 45 for a six o'clock start with songs by school children and the Quaker Oil Quartet, a brief program followed by baskets from the tree and time to attend church services.
C M Hobbs and Arthur M Davis traveled to Lafayette for the Purdue Short Course and related meetings. Hobbs presided at a State Horticultural Society banquet and was re-elected president for another year. Davis attended the banquet and was elected vice president of the Indiana Fruit Growers Association after serving as president last term.

A Christian church program will be rendered Sunday evening after the Christmas tree program on the street. Public invited. Performances include Primary Chorus Away in a Manger, Christmas violin solos, duets by Frances and Kathleen Drake, Madeline and Ruth McMurray, and others with recitations by Delno McCullough and Edith Young.

Firestone Tire and Rubber Co reports fiscal year results ending October 31 with sales of 64.5 million dollars, up 23 percent from the prior year. Earnings after charges rose to a net per share increase, and bank indebtedness declined by about 9 million dollars as the company reduced its debt.
Miss Ella Chandler daughter of Mr and Mrs BE S Chandler west of town and Everett Quinn son of Mr and Mrs Everett Quinn near Cartersburg were quietly married at the home of Rev Verl Blair last Thursday evening. They will reside in Cartersburg where the bridegroom farms.
