The Plainfield Gazette is published every Thursday by A. M. Osborn at Front Street opposite the Second Presbyterian Church. Village subscribers pay 1.25 per year, mail subscribers 2.00, with 50 cents extra if not prepaid. No paper is continued until arrears are paid, at publishers’ option. Job printing offered at low cash prices.
The advertisement promotes Professor A C Barry s Tricophor ous medicated compound as a universal remedy for skin muscles and glands. It claims rapid relief from inflammation eczema and scalp conditions while promising hair renewal and luxurious growth. It cites testimonials and wide distribution across the United States and Canada.
A comic verse from the Waverly Magazine shows a distressed young woman pressing a clerk to locate a lost letter. She threatens and pleads, offering peas in her shoe as penance while the clerk coolly urges a thorough search, mocking her claims of romance and singleness.
