A Bow Lodge Of Odd Fellows In City Initiates

Queen City Lodge No 226 LOI was instituted in the city by Grand Master Howard S Otphen of Flemington. Elizabethport Lodge No 116 marked the initiatory degrees. Temperance Men Sought by Plainfield Clergy and Republicans

Plainfield pastors meet the city Republican Executive Committee tonight to urge nominations by temperance men. Ministers seek assurance that future laws will address reform. The committee will argue only men of ability integrity and temperance will be nominated. Also noted are local items including a dangerous illness of James H Todd, a new market opening on North Avenue, and a youth injured by a falling chestnut tree.

Poison mixup saves Dunellen doctor’s wife

Dr. Chapney’s young wife nearly died after mistaking chloral for bromide from her husband’s medicine chest. She lost consciousness until Sunday afternoon but the patient is now out of danger though not yet able to leave home. Dr. and Mrs. Chapney have lived in Dunellen about two years and have two young children.

Thirteen Adders Kill in Yard at Washington Park

Borough Counsel A Reed reports a startling scene at his new Washington Park home where thirteen flat headed adders up to nearly three feet long have appeared in the back yard over several weeks. The snake influx continues as residents observe the unusual infestation with concern.
