Mesopola Singing Society rehearsals and Y M C A class notice

The Mesopola Singing Society began regular rehearsals at the Casino of the Country Club with Chap conducting and a promising season ahead. The Young Men's Christian Association announces E A Embury as leader of their boys singing class with eleven years of experience, reading music instruction and free. Boys under twelve may meet Embury tomorrow at 4 30 at the Y M C A rooms.

Unitarian Church Project Advances in Plainfield

The accompanying cut shows the new Unitarian Church on Park avenue between Eighth streets in Plainfield. The building committee has cut costs to under 10 500 dollars and awarded stone and mason work to Isaac W. Pangborn. Subscriptions near 7 000 dollars with completion hoped by January 1, 1892.

Court Dismisses Morrell v Sweeny for Plaintiff Nonappearance

In Justice Bush's Court Justice Nash dismissed the landlord and tenant case Morrell v Sweeny due to plaintiff non-appearance. A judgment favored Voorhees v Michael Sweeny Jr for possession of premises on South Second Street. The Sweeney family will not be ejected soon due to Mrs. Sweeney's illness. An Epworth League event at the Monroe Avenue chapel drew about 150 attendees with duets dialogues recitations and refreshments. Gorge T. Rogers of North Plainfield entertained with legerdemain as the League gained several new members including Meg Frazee who wagers on gubernatorial races.

Choosing Republican Delegates and Reorganization Meeting

The Republican Association met in Laredo to elect delegates and alternates for the convention at Trento on October 15. Officers were to be reorganized, with a five member committee including the delegates and chairman to report at the October 20 session.

Trial of Herman Blasier in fatal saloon shooting at 77 Pine

Plainfield Relief Association Elects New Officers

At the annual Plainfield Relief Association meeting in the Y M C A rooms, officers for the coming year were chosen. President Mrs Van Neat Talmage and Vice President Mrs EL Goddard were named, along with Secretary Miss E Leonard and Treasurer Mrs HP Reynolds.

Driver Staats Falls Under Horse’s Heels on West Front Street

Staats, a BE Holmes coal firm employee, toppled from his wagon in a fit on West Front street this forenoon. He landed under the horse’s heels but escaped serious injury after Assistant Officer Giesse helped him up and he continued his journey.
