A morning robbery at the East Fourth Street office occurred around 6 30 with the lock broken and a desk glass smashed. The robber opened the desk box and stole $25 while staff were briefly away. detectives are pursuing a suspect as inquiries continue.
The fire drill was reattempted with three trials and a one minute exit. A mock trial at three o clock with J Beekman as judge and F W Cornwell and A B Crane as attorneys is planned. North Plainfield football game canceled due to disbanding. The High School first team defeats the scrub squad in Y M C A gym practice two days running by scores 28 to 5 and 28 to 10.
Two Plainfield gunners fired at decoy ducks on a pond near South Plainfield. They missed the birds but hit a house and narrowly avoided injuring bystanders as locals laughed and fled to safety. The incident prompted questions about safety and target practice near residences.
Eight more games were rolled at the Board of Trade alleys with standout scores from Teel and Nash. Teel posted 159 and later 194, Nash tallied 170 and 155, with Bamberger reaching 187 and Gamerman 160 as rest of field posted solid marks.
Last evening in Friendship Hall New Market a parish guild supper benefit for the church building fund drew a large attendance despite unpleasant weather. Driver Charles Frye suffered a wrist cut from broken glass. A second wagon from Herman Kingman was secured and the wrecked wagon sent to a shop for repairs.
Two unrestrained horses tore down East Front Street around ten o clock as men from Park avenue chased them. John Barns and Mike Gill finally halted the pair, ropes were used to corral them, and the horses were led to Roberts stables to await their owners.
The Pennsylvania Railroad tests a new locomotive claimed to reach one hundred miles per hour. Several successful trials have prompted construction of additional engines at the Altoona works.

A twelve year old German girl unable to speak English spent the night on a hotel Piazza after being turned out of her home by a woman she worked for. She slept in an arm chair until morning when Gardner’s Bakery fed her and Rudolf Spiegel arranged care. The girl is now at the hotel and hopes for a good home.
General Smith of the B and O Railroad leads a party including General Butterfield and General Sickles to Gettysburg to view monument designs and discuss a possible $2000 per regiment appropriation for a field memorial. Hugh Hastings also travels to assess sites for a regiment monument.

Captain F L Martin plans an annus visit to Pope Manufacturing Company Hartford Conn to inspect the 1895 Columbias. Retail price set at 100 dollars. The new frame uses a single tube instead of a double yet the lighter bicycle will offer improved road performance.
Professor MacClymont of Mattawan presented a piano recital at Glenwood Institute with Beethoven, Chopin, Mendelssohn works and a Chopin duet with Miss Marc Simpson. The program included a Rondo Capriccioso and a tarantella and attracted an appreciative audience.
Rumor from Elizabeth claims Halskamper, who battled for the County Storkship nomination, will be appointed deputy by Howard, the successful rival. Incumbent Elmore D. Moffett of Plainfield will not be removed before January 1.
