A cotillion for Plainfield’s younger set will be danced Monday evening at the Casino. Prominent ladies will receive invitations and those invited expect a delightful evening. Austin of Brooklyn will furnish music. Mr and Mrs Frederick N Wills announce the marriage of their daughter Saidee to Marion S Ackerman of West Seventh Street to be held at Grace Church Thursday evening January 7 1892. The reception will be limited to relatives following the death of Miss Wills’ grandfather Rev Joly Wills of Barnstable Massachusetts.
Mrs Alletta Quick aged 70, mother of Mrs J N Honeyman, died this morning at her daughter’s home 40 Craig Place North Plainfield from pneumonia. She had lived in North Branch and came to Plainfield last week to nurse Mrs Honeyman who remains ill. Funeral from the North Branch home on Monday.
About seventy friends from New York City Bronxville Long Island City Sayreville and Plainfield gathered at Edward A. Vermeule’s home to celebrate the twenty first anniversary of Mr. and Mrs. Charles E. Austin. In the evening a home wedding was staged for Vermeule’s daughter who married Charles Lippincott with Rev. Charles B. Mitchell officiating. The bride was supported by her two young sisters Nellie and Stella Vermeule as the company stood. Numerous handsome presents were given to both couples.

Catherine Cahill, just released after forty days for drunkenness, was arrested again yesterday for the same offense and paid a five dollar fine this morning. Martin Holmes and John Robinson, arrested for drunkenness and disturbing a Salvation Army meeting, were jailed for thirty days after failing to pay a twenty dollar fee.
Christmas exercises were held yesterday afternoon at the Friend's First Day School. The programme featured recitations and addresses by Judge Nathan Harper, the superintendent Aaron M. Powell and Harry G. Adams. Scholars and friends enjoyed ice cream, candy and cake.
A horse owned by James F. Parker of 103 Grove Street bolted in the alley from East Second to John Sayer's harness shop rear, nearly wrecking the attached wagon while the coachman worked on harness. Signal Service Officer R J Shaw warned a cold wave will drop temperatures to freezing by tomorrow night.
Local capitalists plan a 100 by 150 foot salt water natatorium casino and concert hall at Kingsley street and Third avenue with a 300 foot pool. Hotel men back the project and pumps will temper water in cool weather. Also note: Y M L bowling alleys drew crowds and police broke up a drunken brawl at Front and Somerset streets Thursday night.
The St Paul Dispatch outlines Oscar T Roberts a former Plainfield High School graduate and ex banker now treasurer of the Commercial Bank. He is described as a bright businessman with a New York training and nine years in banking. The notice lists his civic roles with Minnesota Boat Club Apollo Club and St Paul Choral Association. Various church services and Christmas observances are announced across churches including Mt Pleasant School House Reform Club Hope Chapel First Unitarian and more with times for Masses Sunday Schools and special Christmas programs.
Ron J. Getz a longtime journalist and politician died in Reading Pennsylvania at noon yesterday. He founded the Reading Gazette in 1840 and later edited the Spirit of Berks and Morning Herald merging publications. He served as state legislator in 1856 and Congress from 1866 to 1870 and was repeatedly reelected City Controller since 1887.

Brakeman Starry Gross twenty seven and a middle brakeman on a coal train running Phillipsburg to Jersey City was killed at Cranford on the Central Railroad of New Jersey. He stepped into the main westbound track while trying to board the train and was struck by a blue line train at about fifty miles an hour. The body was taken to the Elizabeth morgue. Gross was married. his brother was a brakeman on the same train.
Harry Davidson and George Seaman of Cranford were jailed in Elizabeth on theft charges after being caught in Elizabeth. They confessed to Chief Tenny. Davidson allegedly belonged to the Jesse James gang of youths active two years ago, with a hideout in a cave between Westfield and Cranford where stolen goods were found.
Obituary note records the death of James W. Aughiltree with services on December 28 at seven o clock evening at his residence 12 Third Place Plainfield New Jersey.
