Nye and Burbank Entertain at Music Hall

A small audience greeted Bill Nye and A P Burbank at Music Hall last evening. Attendance was low due to higher seat prices. Nye performed despite a broken arm and kept the crowd laughing. Burbank’s humor pleased the audience.

Perseverance Lodge Nominates Officers for Grand Lodge

Judge Ulrich and the Knights Templar Souvenir Planned

Juda Uirich of Plainfield works outside his duties on a lavish souvenir for the Knights Templar Conclave to be held in Denver in August. The 200 plus page volume will feature Colorado of the West, a history of Knights Templarism, plus sketches of prominent Knights Templar across the United States.

Dunn Not Hart in Lima Railroad Wreck Report

The Lima train wreck left F. S. Dunn and his wife of Seattle among the injured. Dunn’s hip was crushed according to accounts, but despatches later said he escaped serious injury as did his wife. The couple were returning home from Rahway when the accident occurred.

Plank Strike Off Sixth Avenue Elevated Hits Streeter

James P. Streeter of East Ninth Street New York was struck on the head by a falling plank from the Sixth Avenue Elevated Railroad while crossing Park Place on Thursday afternoon. The impact knocked the crown from his Dunlap hat but caused no serious injury. the railroad paid him six dollars for a new hat.

Unwelcome Visitor La Grippe

The disease has arrived in the city with many residents reporting illness. It travels from Europe and affects brain workers indoors more than outdoor laborers. Physicians advise rest, warmth, sleep, regular meals, and strong sanitary surroundings to guard against it. Most cases are catarrhal rather than febrile in form.

Elizabeth Fire Department annual report presented

The annual report by Chief Engineer N. H. Astfalk to the Mayor and City Council covers fire department efficiency, with suggestions for improvement. Last year there were 48 fire alarms 11 still alarms and 59 tires, jeopardized property valued at 654000 dollars and total loss of 35640 dollars, mostly insured.
