Senator Delamater spent September 19 visiting Port Clinton Tamaqua Mahanoy City Ashland Lavelle Girardville Shenandoah and other mines towns. In Shenandoah about 2000 heard his 30 minute address at the Opera House followed by a banquet and late reception after which he returned to Philadelphia.
John L. Bontt received the nomination for Governor and Judge William Storey was selected for Lieutenant Governor at the Republican State Convention session.
Ex Governor Pattison and Democratic State Committee Chairman Kerr outlined a protective tour through Pennsylvania. Pattison will travel to Doylestown to meet visitors at the county fair, then begin an extended interior tour starting at Eric around October 11, aiming to survey counties before the Academy of Music mass meeting.

The preliminary hearing for George W. Harris, an Alton mail clerk, charged with stealing registered mail, was held in St. Louis on September 19. Bail was set at $2,000, and Harris was jailed after failing to post bond.
