McGaw Returns from Atlanta Denies Expulsion Charges
Homer L. McGaw arrives with his son after the convention where he says he acted with equanimity and cannot discuss the charges against him. He asserts reports of his expulsion from the Knights of Labor are unfounded and hints others opposed Master Workman Ross. A letter suggesting McGaw’s ties to the Jesmette Flowers case is noted, with a sensational follow up anticipated.

A Monday Dispatch report on the Carnegie Free Library of Allegheny outlines two management plans. One favors a city commission including the mayor and council leaders, with five appointed citizens to oversee books and library staff, while councils handle bills and approvals.
