New York June 23 The settlement of Will Ziegler v Joseph C Hoagland and the Royal Baking Powder Company ends a dispute over executive salaries. Hoagland, president, buys Ziegler’s 695 shares for about 2.3 million dollars, valuing the stock at roughly 3 400 dollars per share, far above the former 100 dollar level.
New York June 23 Secretary Tracy orders all navy ensigns and union jacks to be retired on July 4 and replaced with flags displaying 42 stars on the blue union. Work is underway in the navy yard loft under Commander F M Green with a team of seventy women and three men skilled in flag making.
Mrs Sarah Jane Whiteling faces execution Tuesday after Governor Beaver refused further delay. Her counselors and religious advisers have conferred, with clergy visiting her in prison as she remains adamant and declares readiness to die.

June 23 Stillwater Missouri reports Bob Younger, life-term inmate for a 1876 Northfield bank officer murder, is near release. A Missouri legislator, two other dignitaries, and the Younger sisters and aunt traveled to push the pardon. Locals and professionals signed petitions arguing he cannot survive long after 13 years served.
Sixty girls in white veils at the Polish Catholic Church of St Casimir in Brooklyn observed a first communion. A veil around one girl caught fire igniting a small flame. panic ensued as worshipers rushed to open windows. Lights were extinguished quickly and order restored by Father Buranski as bystanders helped quell the blaze.
Special Telegram to The Dispatch Franklin June 23 Mrs McDowell widow of the late Colonel Alexander McDowell pioneer settler of Franklin died after a lamp exploded in her son’s residence during a fall at the head of the stairs. She was 66.
Ex President Rutherford B Hayes and his wife Mrs Hayes remain under anxious care in Fremont as ministers pray for her recovery. Over 48 hours since the attack there is no notable improvement. Richard Hayes reports no hopeful signs at the depot. Dr Rice notes cases of prolonged illness before improvement. A niece of the Hayes, Miss Adda Cook Huntington of Moss Point Mississippi, lived in the Hayes home and was married there.
Special telegram from New York June 2 reports Socialist leaders Haber and Kirschner vie for a delegate seat to the Paris International Congress of Workingmen. Rumors claim a plot by editor Alexander Comet of the Volke Zeitung to link Haber to Germany’s police, a claim Haber denies.
