Tragic buggy ride ends in Baltimore train crash

Bevaire July 14 Charles Fulton and Miss Maggie Ault were killed when a Baltimore and Ohio freight crashed into their buggy at a crossing. The horse bolted but halted as the locomotive appeared on a curve. Fulton's head injuries were fatal and Ault suffered critical multiple injuries. The horse died at the scene.

Evizaneth New Jersey July 14 A road tavern on Rahway avenue between Elizabeth and Eshway was the scene of a midnight shooting. John Walker 45 and his son George Jr were drinking and argued with innkeeper Charles Roder who allegedly drew a 28 caliber revolver and fired five shots. John was wounded in the thigh while George was shot in the head and critically injured. Roder fled and is thought to have left the state. Justice Mitlord issued a warrant but the constable was away in Elizabeth delaying custody. The Walkers questions over their peaceful nature add local suspicion.

Burrato July 14 Shiloh Gillis of Chicago a Knight of Pythias and D G M eloped to Niagara Falls with Alice Scott a dime museum performer. Mrs Gillis pursued and found them in a Clinton street boarding house. Gillis once married in Missouri, this is his third elopement. Scott has a husband in Chicago. Gillis was a Grand Trunk conductor and has been discharged.

Wager Load of Victims Struck by Freight Train

Five travelers in a lumber wagon from Clinton to Camange were struck by a freight train near Lyons Louisiana. Mrs. Fred Beckenshaw was killed instantly. Miss May Buckman died shortly after from severe injuries. Three other occupants were badly cut and feared dead. horses were killed and wagon obstructed. Special telegram reports a fatal railroad accident on the Chicago Northwestern line.
