Balt. and Ohio Eyes Return of One Cent Rate for Trips
General Passenger Agent C O Scull of the Baltimore and Ohio says he will move to restore a one cent per mile excursion rate via the Trunk Line Association when the theater season opens. If not approved by the association the line will restore the rate itself. He argues the rate is legal and notes past attempts and differing practices among roads. He reports a strong year for excursions with a large rush to eastern resorts and plans an initial Atlantic City trip next Thursday with ten cars including three parlor cars.

A Prominent German's Career Remains Interred
The body of J L Daub who died after a paralytic stroke near the German Lutheran Church West End will be buried in the church cemetery this afternoon. Born in Germany in 1823 he held official posts in the German Empire before coming to the United States in 1864. He lived in the West End until his death and was active in business and a staunch Republican. He leaves a wife six grown children and his funeral will be attended by the William Tell Lodge of Odd Fellows of which he was a member.

Robbed on the Boat Fate of an Unfortunate Woman
Mrs Fannie Rosenbaum appeared at the Department of Charities with seven children seeking a ticket to New York after her husband deserted her in Memphis four months earlier. On the way to Cincinnati someone stole her pocketbook containing all her money. Chief Elliott provided transport for her and the children.

The remains of John Garland, a South Side glassblower, were brought home from Geneva after he went bathing in waist deep water and vanished. A search found his body about ten minutes later. The death is ruled accidental.
