Canonsburg Parish Turmoil Ends as Pastor Resigns

By a large Presbytery gathering at United Presbyterian Church in Canonsburg the Rev. J. Speer faced removal votes but the Presbytery sustained him and he resigned. Townspeople, many on foot and by horse, packed the scene as church factions split over the pastor and funding, with about half the members expected to leave.
