Baum predicts a short life for side parties, arguing their core ideas offer little beyond the parent parties. Baum cites Elaine’s popularity and doubts his own health for a presidential bid. He anticipates Harrison’s renomination if Blaine stays out.

Pittsburg and Moon Run Railway to Haul Coal in New Field
The Pittsburg and Moon Run Railway plans to haul coal this year after laying tracks north of the Steubenville pike. A state of the art tipple with six tracks will unload and weigh coal as it’s loaded, aiming for 250 carloads daily. The line, backed by Cleveland investors, seeks independence from the Cleveland and Pittsburg Railway Company. Nine pits are ready to deliver coal of reasonably good quality, while passenger and freight potential is seen as modest but growing, aided by lower Montour fares and the advantage of shorter routes for freight pricing.
