The Berkshire Pinehurst in North Carolina has been enlarged since last season, doubling its capacity and refurnished throughout. It offers modern conveniences including running water from Pinehurst Springs, baths, steam heat, open fires, and electric lights, with continued management by the same team for the coming season.
One cent stores offer a variety of items besides cent-priced goods. Curious items include metal eyeglass frames made from a single tin strip and glass ducks that blow water from their beaks. The eyeglasses and ducks are sold for a cent each, with profit for importers and retailers, and many such goods now common in cities like New York.
