Herreshoff the Winner Defeats Foot of Apawamis in Final Round
In a field of 142 contestants at Pinehurst third annual Spring golf tournament, Fred Herreshoff of Garden City Club won the first division of President's cup by defeating J. D. Foot of Apawamis 10 and 8. Henry C. Fownes of Oakmont led the field and claimed the qualification medal, with other divisions and Consolations going to L. D. Pierce, David Fleming, and J. R. Towle among others. Final matches featured Herreshoff versus Fownes and Pierce against Porter, with close finishes and notable play throughout a week of golf at the resort.
