A new cold storage and ice making plant in the village began operating last Wednesday. The system, in the basement of the Department Store, includes a Penney compressor, ammonia refrigeration, and twelve storage rooms totaling about 4000 cubic feet. Hotels Holly Inn Carolina and Berkshire feed into the network with 5000 feet of ammonia mains. capacity is ten tons daily. The plant, built by Newburgh Ice Machine and Engine Co., was installed under J. L. Adams of Newburgh supervision.
The Pinehurst gathering honors Worcester resident Mr W. A. Warden with a birthday cake in the Casino after supper. Friends present include Anna Hubbard Mercury Walter H. Parcell Sarah L. Dantell and Charles D. DexBow. Poems cartoons and well wishes fill a birthday book amid warm village memory of the event.
Last Monday a Berkshire party enjoyed a picnic at Thagards Mills in a three seated excursion wagon. They explored the grove of pines and near the lake, traversing scenic country en route. Attendees included H. Goodwin and wife Oneida New York Eustice Cummings and Miss Ethel Cummings Woburn Massachusetts and Mrs F W Jenkins Cambridge Massachusetts.
