Allan Lard Wins Semi Final and Sets Record at Pinehurst
Allan Lard of the Columbia Golf Club defeated George W. Keates of Brae Burn 5 up and 4 to play with a 77 medal to set the tournament scoring mark. C. L. Becker from Woodland Golf Club pushed Lard to the limit in a morning 5 4 hole for hole battle, losing on the final putt. News spread that Keates outplayed W. C. Carnegie, who rallied late, but Carnegie fell three down with two to play. Freeman defeated G. W. Wurrell to win the first division consolation after a long day of competition. The overall event closed with high praise for perfect weather and a vibrant finish at Pinehurst.
