There Were No Valentines in St Valentine Golf Tourney

Mrs. F. A. Potts of Lakewood defeated Mrs. J. G. Splane of Pittsburgh to win the medal in a high level St. Valentine women’s golf tournament. Potts tied through qualification with Miss Edith Barnett and Mrs. Barrows, then beat Barrows in the final match. Potts also won her semifinal against Mrs. Guy Metcalf of Providence, and earlier rounds saw close battles among Potts, Splane, Barrows, Barnett, and Maxwell of Lancaster as the event produced tense leads and late surges for the top players. Mrs. Dana Barrows and Miss Barnett were prominent in qualification play for the Silver Foils net medal.
