Finals thrill drives Midwinter Tennis crown clash

The Midwinter Tennis Championship saw J. D. H. Jones defend his Rhode Island title against M. Bull Jr. in a dramatic final four sets to win the trophy and the second leg on the big challenge cup. Women's singles crowned Eleanor Cohen with a 8-6 4-6 6-1 victory over Helen Barnett after a spectacular week of play. Canadian entries and doubles events added depth as new courts were praised and 1916 plans began.

Whittemore’s Gold Medal Opens St Valentine Tourney Qualifiers

Seventy four scores led by Parker Whittemore of Brookline before he withdrew, leaving Hamilton Kerr of Ekwanok atop division one with seventy eight. Philip V. Carter of Nassau followed at eighty, while J. C. Parrish Jr. of the National Club posted eighty-one for third place. Gardiner W. White and Robert Hunter tied at eighty-four, with W. E. H. Truesdell and I. B. Robeson at eighty-six, Shannon eighty-seven, Becker and Boyd at eighty eight, Clapp at eighty-nine in the abbreviations of the first round results.
