Southern Resorts Weather Delays Spring Golf Crowd
Warm North weather holds back many old timers as Palm Beach hosts arrivals for the winter season. James Gordon Bennett of the New York Herald plans a yacht trip with first stop at Palm Beach. Alfred G. Vanderbilt and W. J. McCreery of New York lead a strong field, with McCreery carding 72 on a 18 handicap. E. S. Lewis of Albany wins the second winter event with 70, A. P. Clapp of Brooklyn 71. Also noted are Willing Spencer at The Poiciana and famed actress May Irwin and daughter at the Hotel Palm Beach. The season opens with the first eighteen hole medal play handicap draw.
