Walker resigns as U S G A president after a year
George Herbert Walker, retiring president of the United States Golf Association, described his surprise at accepting the role and stepping into unfamiliar rules. He praised successor Howard F. Whitney, urged electing presidents from the executive committee, and noted ongoing debates on rules abroad, including changes to amatuer status and stymie definitions. He discussed local rule allowances, the Royal and Ancient committee, and the push to unify penalties and procedures across clubs.
