Revenge in the Sandhills Chronicle of Pinehurst War Tale
In a verbatim 1832 chronicle from Caruthers old record detailing Whig reprisals on Scotch settlers after the Piney Bottom Massacre. The piece lists locals and routes, describes mobilized dragoons led by Wade and Culp, and recounts raids on Patterson, Kenneth Clarke, and John Clarke’s groups with age of a boy among captives, capturing and punishing residents as part of the feud.
