The sixth annual United North and South amateur championship ended in a dramatic finish with Wood defeating Becker to win the 36 hole final. Wood led late as Becker briefly surged, then held on to claim the match and the prestigious title amid high scoring rounds and notable performances by Wardwell and Brokaw in the national golf finals.
The final round produced a dramatic 2 up win for W. K. Wood of the Homewood Club Chicago over C. I. Becker of Woodland Auburndale in the 11K women's event. A sharp rally by Miss Julia Mix Englewood briefly challenged, as Wardwell beat Barnes by a single stroke in the first division consolation.
