Lard Triumphs In Final Round To Claim Amateur Golf Title
Allan Lard of the Columbia Golf Club won the eighth annual United North and South Amateur Championship on a tight, 36 hole final. He defeated John E. Porter of Allegheny Country Club five up and four to play, after a week of low scores and close matches. The week featured a standout duel with J J Foot of Apawamis, including striking recoveries and aggressive play. The final round saw Lard lead in the morning, with Porter rallying in the afternoon before Lard closed out the match on the thirty-second hole.
