Pickens Baptist Association Members Meet at Griffin Church
The Pickens Baptist Association gathered Wednesday through Friday last week with Rev. J. Ki. Foster re-elected moderator and J. A. Robinson as clerk. Despite moderate attendance, interest remained strong as missions dominated discussions. Volunteers from local boys entering camps for France sparked renewed effort to spread the gospel before deployment, with a roughly fifty percent rise in gifts to missions and benevolence. The next meeting will be held again at Pickens Baptist Church at the same time next year.

S Clements Dead at Pickens After Typhoid Fever
S Clements died at his home near Pickens last Thursday October 18 after about a week with typhoid fever. He was thirty nine, son of Mrs Jerry Clements, survived by several siblings. A miller by trade, he worked with Guy McFall in a corn mill at Pickens and was described as faithful and pleasant. Funeral services were conducted by Rev J E Hodges and burial followed in the family ground.

Old Citizen Tyre Hollen Corbin Dies Near Pickens
Tyre Hollen Corbin aged 72 died near Pickens on October 14 and was buried at Saluda Hill the following day. Funeral services were conducted by Rev. Clo Craie. He is survived by a brother J. R. Corbin and six sisters and several children.
