Robert Gantt died at his West End home Sunday night after eight weeks illness including appendicitis and stomach ulcers. Funeral services were led by Rev. Ben G. Field at Cross Roads cemetery where he was laid to rest. he was 65. Survived by wife and two children Grover Gantt of Pickens and Mrs. James Porter of Anderson county. He ran a West End store and was a member of Cross Roads Baptist church. Buried with Woodmen of the World honors.

Mrs. Dillie Grant died at her home on Little Eastatoc November 9 after weeks of illness aged 85. She is survived by four children including daughter Mrs. M. A lifelong member of the Methodist church she will be buried the day after at New Hope Methodist church. Also known as Aunt Dillie she was revered for steadfast deeds.

A tenant house on Mrs. Ida Green's farm known as the James McAdams place, four miles north of Basley, burned Thursday about 11:00 a m. Two Black children aged four and eighteen months died in the blaze while guardians, An drew Langston and others, were in the cotton fields. The house was occupied by Langston and his family.
