Wheeze of a Thrifty Subscriber in Rural Indiana

A local spoof recalls a family that avoids subscribing by sending a child to borrow the neighbor’s paper. In a chaotic spree that follows, bees sting, barbed wire breaks, a cow dies in a cornfield, cream floods, teeth break, a baby crawls through cream, a carpet is ruined, a hired man elopes, hens are disturbed, and calves chew shirts, all to save 1.50. Moral urges subscribing to protect from such capers.
