Powers a Confederate veteran dies in Pickens home
James Thomas Powers aged 93 died February 1 at his Old Pickens home where he was born on July 1, 1847. He suffered five years from Brights disease and dropsy. Funeral services were led by R L Boggs and burial followed in the family ground. Survivors include his widow and four sons James H of Atlanta Joseph B of Westminster Bennett H of Pickens and Van B at home. The Sentinel extends condolences.
