Carefree Life Of Wild Man Ends In Jail
Lanky Marshall A Fortune, 33, once living as a wild man in a Salt River cardboard shanty near Tolleson, was jailed after being found by Frank Kunkel and his grandson while hunting doves. Deputy Vern Session escorted Fortune to Tolleson Justice Court where a $15 fine or 15 days in jail was imposed for vagrancy. Fortune recalls nothing since 1941 when drafted into the Army and sent to a hospital in Waco, Texas.

College Youth Kills Girl With Six Shots
Dallas detective recounts that 21 year old Keith Peterson a Southern student and son of a local power executive confessed to killing his former girlfriend 20 year old Caroline Schofield with a six shot revolver in her downtown Dallas office after she began seeing another man. He said he fired to scare her then fired four more as she lay dying and stated he kept pulling the trigger because he believed she might still be alive. He telephoned his parents after the slaying and asked a stranger to call police. He sketched a past from a YWCA dance to Navy service and back to Dallas where the tragedy followed a reconciliation and a recent threat of marriage.
