Gambling and liquor charges filed against Arizona official
John N. Brennen head of the Arizona Industrial Commission's Labor division faced gambling charges and liquor without a license at Westerner's Recreation Association Club in Phoenix. Seven slot machines were seized during a raid by sheriff's deputies who reported liquor by the drink. Brennen was club president, released on bail, residence listed as 1705 West Montecito Avenue. T. A. Sweeney, secretary treasurer, also charged. both bonds set at 300 dollars. Hearing scheduled 9:30 a.m. October 28 in East Phoenix precinct court.

The first half-year deadline is November 7 with 10 percent interest for late payment. early payments appear higher than last year.
Woman's Life Savings Taken In Nevada Theft
The theft of $16,300 in cash jewelry and gold dust, the entire life savings of Mrs. Lillian Lake of Ely Nevada, was investigated by sheriff's deputies. The valuables were taken from her auto court cabin Sunday night as she traveled toward Alaska with her daughter and a friend, William King Howard, 35.
