Exemptions On Inventory Tax Cut Affects Arizona Makers

County Assessor C L Sparks says exemptions on manufacturers inventories under the new Arizona law total 4 130 000 dollars. He estimates the exemption will not exceed 5 million for 1951. He also projects a 40 percent rise in equipment tax revenue of about 1 500 000 dollars, offsetting some exemption loss. Both laws took effect January 1 1951. The inventory exemption removes inventories and raw materials from taxation. Equipment is now taxed on total cost value plus freight and installation and assessed at 45 percent of cost, versus 60 percent of depreciated value under the prior system.
