A U S Air Force B58 jet bomber crashed and burned at Le Bourget Airport as it landed after arriving from Torrejon Spain. One of its three crew members was killed in the accident witnessed by thousands.
The U S Air Force had said all three crew members were killed but a French hospital later reported two survivors. One identified as Maj Harold Covington, of Jacksonville Arkansas. An insurance salesman sentenced for burglary collapsed in a courtroom after a bottle believed poisoned was given to his lips. He survived badly burned with other patient Donald Louis Hamilton, 25, of Apache Junction, rushed to Maricopa County Hospital after a 2 to 3 year sentence for burglary and six months for contributing to delinquency of minors.
A new Roman Catholic archbishop for Chicago will be announced tomorrow with five leading candidates named The Most Rev Leo Binz The Most Rev Ernest Primeau Rev Theodore Hesburgh The Most Rev John J Wright and The Most Rev Charles H Helmsing Each candidate holds high church posts and is considered a possible successor to lead the Chicago diocese.
