Dual Employment Allowed for Principals Says Atty. Gen.
Atty. Gen. Fred O. Wilson ruled that a state law banning dual public office duties does not apply to school principals. He wrote that a principal may lead both a high school and an elementary school and may receive salaries from both. The opinion follows a prior decision restricting deputies from serving as constables, noting principals are school district employees, not public office holders. Counties have sometimes replaced deputy constables with deputies’ wives.
