Commission Moves To Assume Control Over Co-operatives
The Arizona Corporation Commission will assume jurisdiction over electric gas and oil co-operatives statewide. About 20 co-ops may be affected and must file rate schedules and follow commission rules. The move follows a Arizona Supreme Court ruling that a non profit co op can be a public service corporation, and the commission seeks opinions on REA financed co-ops. Major co-ops include Navajo Apache counties Navopache Electric Co-Op Sulphur Springs Valley Co-Op and Graham County Electric Co-Op.
