Traffic Fatalities Rise in Arizona Two Pedestrians Die

Two pedestrians died and a third injured in Arizona accidents reported by the highway patrol. David Lester Hall, 69, died after stepping from behind a bus into a sedan at Van Buren Street. Vicelio Miguel, about 55, died in an Ajo hospital from injuries after being struck by a truck. The patrol cited drivers Eugene Stakebake and Victor Manuel as involved in the incidents. Marcos Ramirez, 69, was hospitalized with a broken leg and cuts from a separate crash at Van Buren and Lateral 24%.

Record rainfall floods roads and buckeye area swamps

Heavy rains saturated the Valley and much of the state flooding canals and roads cutting rail traffic into Phoenix. The Buckeye area faced surging water from two directions as Santa Cruz River and Hassayampa River rose. Luke Air Force Base flooded again with civilian housing at risk and evacuations possible. Jurwitz noted rivers at high levels and continued rain forecast for tonight into tomorrow.

Six-Foot Wall of Water Hits Ouray Colorado

A cloudburst sent a six foot wall of water roaring through Ouray injuring none of the 1,200 residents as mud and rock blocked Highway 550. A disaster corps led by Philip S. Icke organized rescues while floods also hit Denver Englewood and the Huerfano River area in Southern Colorado killing livestock and washing away bridges.
