County reports fifth polio case this week
James Wiggins, 11, son of Mr and Mrs Paul Wiggins of Glen dale, was placed in an iron lung today at Memorial Hospital as the fifth polio case this week for Maricopa County. New Mexico's National Foundation for Infantile Paralysis will fly one iron lung and perhaps two to Phoenix tonight for standby emergency use. There are 12 iron lungs in use at the hospital and county polio caseload since Jan 1 stands at 62.

Rosenbergs Get Two Month Appeal Extension
Julius and Ethel Rosenberg win a two month extension to file an appeal from death sentences for atomic spying. The delay runs to October 15, granted by Judge Charles E. Assault Charge Readhed In Shooting Of Boy
A county attorney prepared a complaint charging Harold J. Baker with assault to commit murder in the shooting of 15 year old Warren Joslin near a cafe in Arlington. Joslin, grandson of state tax commissioner Warren Peterson, remains in Memorial Hospital in critical condition after three bullets struck him.
