Washington April 13 AP two United States B 29 Superfortresses were shot down by Red jets near the Yalu River in the largest air battle of the Korean war. US fighters and bombers damaged several enemy planes. final tallies credit eight enemy MiG-15s down, with four more probable and 11 damaged.
Administration leaders reportedly favor a limited invitation for Gen. Douglas MacArthur to address Congress with an unofficial hearing. They want him to answer questions on policy and his Korean War record before committees. MacArthur surge as a presidential candidate resurfaced, while Remington Rand’s chief confirmed he will join the firm as an executive. Senator McFarland said no final decision has been made and Speaker Rayburn would be consulted.
Thousands line downtown streets as Junior Chamber sponsored rodeo parade winds through Phoenix. Bands from 24 high schools and Arizona State College at Tempe perform along a two mile route. Washington April 13 The American Agricultural attaché in Belgrade reports the United States has successfully averted famine in war torn Yugoslavia. John J. Haggerty to the Agriculture Department says the promise of aid created security until further supplies arrive and the crisis eases.
General Douglas MacArthur was invited to appear before the Senate Armed Services Committee to discuss American policies in the Far East. The invitation was announced by Chairman Richard B. Russell of Georgia.
MacArthur aims to appear before Congress while debate sharpens over his firing by Truman. In Iran, armed police faced Communists in Tehran's Parliament Square after oil field riots left nine dead, including two British sailors. British, Russian tensions loom as Britain threatens action.

Rep Clair Engle and opponents in the House Interior Committee say they have the votes to table the Central Arizona Project Authorization Bill. They planned to move the motion at the committee meeting but alleged the session was irregularly canceled by Chairman John R Murdock.

Washington April 13 AP President Truman seeks to overhaul the Reconstruction Finance Corporation amid a Senate probe into political influence over RFC loans. Senator Fulbright's banking subcommittee says a White House influence ring steered RFC actions while Administration backers predict enough votes for success. The probe notes a mink coat linked to the case and the resignation of White House stenographer Mrs. E Merl Young, who testified her husband’s lawyer paid for the coat as a loan to Young.
