Truck Kills Walking Schoolboy With Brake Failure
A seven year old boy on his way to Abraham Lincoln School was killed when a tractor trailer went out of control as the driver applied the brakes. The driver John Ercell Lindblad of Fort Worth said his wheels locked causing the truck to veer off the road. The victim identified by his mother Mrs. Florence Castallez of 825 East Sherman Street was struck near the school zone on Arizona Highway. The body was taken to Mercer Mortuary and the boy’s companions were too frightened to assist.

Record air battle in Korea yields 22 enemy planes shot down

In a head on collision on U S Highway 66 east of Flagstaff eight people died with one more succumbing to injuries in Winslow Hospital. Vinson Sees Defeat For 3.5 To 4 Million Armed Forces Ceiling

Casualty List Nears 60 000 in Korea Update
United States casualties in Korea rose to 59 396 as of April 6, an increase of 846. The breakdown: 8 941 killed in action, 39 500 wounded, 10 865 missing. Of the wounded, 1 040 later died. 99 of the missing are known dead, bringing combat deaths to 10 080. The missing total includes 1 109 who have returned to U S control and 113 known prisoners of war, leaving 9 544 still missing.
