In Santa Barbara California on October 16 a bridge dynamite plot aimed at Taft's train was stopped by a watchman who saw a man planting 21 sticks of dynamite under one pier and 18 under the other. The would be saboteur fled after shots were fired. Secret service and officials say a clue exists and expect developments soon.
Thomas Philips, an longtime resident near Fort Pi, hunted wolves near Antelope Creek and killed a large two hundred pound wolf. Ranchers paid a fifty dollar bounty, plus state bounty and the hide, totaling about sixty five dollars for the day's hunt. He plans to continue hunting in the same area due to further wolf sightings.
Reports say Mr. Shroll of Wellsburg and Mr. Hoag of Bridger have bought the Tart Jey store and will run a partnership business with plans for a new building and large stock. Mr. and Mrs. Keegan now operate the Wellsburg store after buying out Mr. Wells, and Win Shroll’s purchase is denied. Mr. Parker and family plan to move to Canada.
State engineer, Harry Lovald, and Dan Bierwagen surveyed western Stanley county from Hardingrove flats to the Badlands assessing a plan to divert Cheyenne River water to irrigate 42,000 acres on the Hardingrove flats. Report pending further exploration in the Badlands.

The state supreme court ruled that the late Chauncey L. Wood's expressed wish to be buried in Rapid City overrides the widow and his sons' desire to inter him there. Wood died in Seattle on January 17 while with his wife, who had come for her health, ending a lengthy family battle.

Rapid City October 18. President Macomber of the Rapid City Black Hills and Western Railroad visits with stockholders to renew efforts to extend the line west into Wyoming coal fields. The party inspects $30,000 in improvements including 16,000 new ties a new coach and engine. The eastern Wyoming coal field prospect has long interested the Black Hills for a large coal market.
Fort Pierre papers describe Rev. R W Roberts the new Congregational minister as a capable preacher and active astronomer. He owns two large telescopes and will lecture to raise funds for a shelter, with ticket buyers gaining weekly sky observations. Roberts served as University Extension astronomy lecturer and has written for scientific journals.
Maniey Unampha manager of the experimental stations in the state arrives with Ira A. Wright of Wright & Naylor Highmore. They report that work on the Farm buildings will begin next week. The contractors secured the contract for the project.

A motorist named Nichols encountered a large rattlesnake on Deep Creek Road near Fox Ridge. After stopping, the car was driven over the snake, its fangs pierced the inner tube, and Nichols removed the fangs with pliers.
