New County Game Warden Named for Stanley County
Alvin Waggoner, the county states attorney, received a letter from State Game Warden Bancroft indicating the commission of Jack Hughes, a Kadoka resident, as the new game warden for Stanley County. Fence Posts by Express Hills Contractor Takes Advantage
Pierre Oct 4 Under new express rates in this state it is cheaper to send packages within the state by express than by freight, especially west of the Missouri river where freight rates are higher. For example the express rate per 100 pounds between Pierre and Rapid City is 55 cents versus 78 cents by freight. A large cedar posts shipment from Rapid City to eastern parts of the state moved by express this week, showing the shift could boost express traffic and require more men to handle the volume.

Aviator Cromwell Dixon Dies After Spokane Flight

Philo Stephens, after three years as a fugitive, was captured by Indian police at Rosebud Agency and jailed. A preliminary hearing set by County Justice Waldo ordered him to answer to a grand jury next month with bail fixed at 1200 dollars. Sheriff Coyne reported a jail escape attempt by Stephens, Hank Oakes, and two others thwarted by improvised saw blades and knives found during a search.
