The Midland and Fort Pierre post offices are designated as postal savings banks with operations to start early in January. Reports also note a Meade county circuit court acquittal for Robert Masterson on perjury charges tied to Elmer Hawks at Pedro.
Almie Berry aged 25 shot and killed O. J. Herbert aged 45 at her Railroad Avenue home in Weat Lead at 7:30 PM. Husband works night shift at Homestake mine. Herbert is a retired baker who owns the house occupied by the Berry family.
A large turkey bought by D H Crary was fattened with corn in the Burlington freight house. It was slaughtered for Thanksgiving but found inedible after investigators learned the bird had eaten moth balls and camphor, leaving the family disappointed and the carcass discarded. The tale appears in the Pioneer Times.
Aberdeen reporter Robert I Hall, a local promoter, killed a stray outlaw buffalo that wandered from the Scotty Philip herd. The carcass weighed about 1500 pounds and was shown at a nearby meat market.

In the United States court at Sinx Falls the government rested its case against Charles L. Hyde of Pierre on charges of using the mails to defraud purchasers of town lots. Defense counsel Charles P. Bates began presenting testimony claiming no intent to defraud and noting $5,000,000 in improvements at Pierre between 1907 and 1909, including a state capitol building and railroad terminals. He said Hyde invested $400,000 in Pierre and many funds came from land sales elsewhere, with Hyde acting in good faith.
Louis Olmon, a healthy and hardworking resident of Ames, died at age twenty five on December 1, 1911, at 2:50 am from typhoid fever. He lived in Ames many years, worked on the C. and N. W. railway pile driver, attended M. E. church services, and was mourned by a large funeral with Odd Fellows Redmen Woodmen delegations.
Rapid City reports A A Mallow displays a petrified ham found on the old Big Foot trail near White River. Lisle Sennett recovered it. The ham shows a rind, fat, meat and marrow like a real cut, darker in color. Theories include petrification or a relic from the Seventh Cavalry pursuit of Big Foot.
A former claimant well known in Ames Iowa dies after a seven week illness due to typhoid fever. News of his passing is received with keen regret by his Stanley County friends.
Authorities in Ziebach Meade and Carson counties are rounding up homesteaders who defend the theory free range means free beef by slaughtering cattle roaming on prairies.
