Petersburg Names John C Allen Deputy Customs Collector
John C. Allen was sworn in as deputy collector of customs in Petersburg last Saturday. Charles D. Garfield administered the oath and Wrangell supervisor C. Wall supervised the ceremony. Allen will operate from his home until July 1 when office quarters at the Pryor building will be used in connection with the post office. All customs business for Petersburg will now be handled locally.
