Alaska Timber Plans for One Billion Feet in Southeast
A forest service party returns from Shrimp Bay to map and estimate timber for a proposed large pulp mill in the Shrimp Bay and Traitor’s Cove region. The plan targets about one billion feet of timber and a regional surveying effort during summer. Contemporaneous news includes fish hatchery commission appointments by Governor Strong and a disbarment case against A B Callaham in Juneau. In Ketchikan a dock accident at Standard Oil dock causes an oil spill of hundreds of drums.
