About 40 head including heavy pringers cows and heifers suitable for fall milk production, plus bulls and calves, will be offered. Buyers in past sales reported satisfaction, and Ayrshires now exist in 32 Mississippi counties with twelve new breeders joining in the past year.
More than 300 physicians from throughout Mississippi will meet in Jackson Sept 19 20 for the eighth annual academy of general practice at Heidelberg Hotel. Dr W E Lotterhos of Jackson president says the two day post graduate program credits to attendees. Lt Gov Carroll Gartin will speak at a luncheon and Dr William Sproul of Des Moines will address a banquet. Thirty six exhibitors will present latest drugs supplies and instruments. The academy promotes standards in general practice and supports post graduate study for doctors.
W T Anthony reports polio in Mississippi increasing as 11 chapters exhaust local funds and March of Dimes aides total 29 775.00. Counties like Monroe Covington Clarke Copiah and Yazoo receive emergency support while total 1956 projections exceed 300 000 and August counts reach 143 with Hinds leading at 16 new cases.
The University Medical Center in Mississippi received an additional 300 000 for current year research and training from government and voluntary health agencies. Grants cover Surgery Psychiatry Preventive Medicine Pathology Pharmacology Physiology with multiple donors including National Heart Institute National Institute of Neurological Diseases and Blindness National Institute of Public Health and local associations totaling 50 794 in one department.
