The Penticton Council enacts powers to exchange streets for land, open and widen roads, regulate pavement, and divert or alter public ways within the decade. It allows future steps to raise the grade and surface per engineer plans, with council approval. Passed May 13 1909 and signed May 20 1909 by C Were Alfred H Wade, Clerk.
Additional locals include N S Marshall of Westbank visiting for a day or two. Government and McGill University libraries have arrived. A movement to form a brass band in Penticton is under way. F N Aylmer of Revelstoke, Dominion Government resident engineer, visited for dredging on the Okanagan River where Richard son has been taking levels for weeks. A river bottom map is being prepared and dredging may resume. Hon Wm Pugsley, Minister of Public Works, may inspect the proposal on a western swing.
Residents and visitors mingle in Peachland with trips to Keremeos and Summerland. Notables include L A Clark and D J Innis hosting in Keremeos, Mrs Rutherford from Winnipeg opening lodgings, and Miss Kinney heading to Lethbridge for summer. Community groups plan a Tennis Club, and school year closes with praise for pupils and teachers.
