Railway extension plans bubble up in Nicola region
The Nicola Herald and Similkameen Star report the C P R has deposited plans in Kamloops for the first thirty miles of the Merritt to Similkameen railway extension along the Coldwater route. Construction may begin in July with contractor activity at Merritt and Field and a new station planned this year.

Naramatans Celebrate Fourth of July on Beach
The Naramata community held a Fourth of July celebration on the third, with games and songs in the afternoon and a large bonfire at dusk. Britisher and American attendees sang Yankee songs, heard speeches and solos, enjoyed fireworks, and ended with a hearty chorus of God Save the King.

The ceremony took place at Budden Brightman church in Kelowna on Wednesday at 1 30 pm with Rev Thomas Green officiating. The couple Mr Frank George Budden of Kelowna and Miss Lena Ross Brightman of Nanaimo will reside in Kelowna after a short honeymoon in Penticton. Relatives and friends attended. Margarite Budden and Birdie Small served as bridesmaids. William Budden accompanied the groom. Also notes aging official A H Wade recovering from wagon accident.

Regatta Highlights At Naramata July Twenty Second
The second 1909 regatta at Naramata features sailing rowing motor diving and swimming events plus war canoe races for the Robinson cup and Ellison medals. Prizes include silver and gold medals and a gold cup for the captain. Festivities run July 22 with concerts meals and grandstand viewing. Naramata Day August 26 promises a final event.
