Penticton Literary Society Announces Essay Prizes
The Literary Society meeting was canceled this week but next week will feature essays on Penticton and its needs. R Wilton of the School Board offers $5 for the best essay on Penticton its resources needs and future prospects open to all. A $3 prize is offered to public school pupils for an essay on How to make Penticton a model town.

Distinguished Visitor Visits Penticton Indian Mission
Rev. Geo. McDougald D D Indian missionary and diplomat from Alberta spent a couple of days in Penticton this week. He works as a Dominion government commissioner examining Indian affairs in the province. He toured the local reservation before continuing to Keremeos and other southern reserves. He played a role in keeping Alberta tribes from joining Riel in 1885 and recently helped settle the Doukhabor land dispute in the Northwest. He has written books on Indian and pioneer life, most recently White BuffaloR edition.

Dance at Hedley Draws Crowds For Masquerade Ball
Hedley citizens hosted a successful masquerade ball on Friday night with guests from Penitton Keremeos and Hedley. Dancing lasted until 4 am as costumes were judged by Miss Armstrong and Messrs Clark Summers. Prizes went to Miss Kirby Keremeos as Queen Elizabeth Miss Phelps Keremeos as Queen of Snows Frank Robiden Hedley as Indian and Robt Clare for best costume acted.

The Methodist Church will hold morning and evening services next Sunday February 14 to mark B C Methodism’s 50th Anniversary with Rev Dr Osterhout of Vernon as preacher. He will also present an illustrated lecture on B C Indians and folklore Monday at 8 pm with an admission fee. A Falls area dance drew Penticton and Fairview guests with a grand supper and extended dancing. A Public Reading Room and Library notice from Penticton invites community input and outlines funding, caretaking, and book procurement details.

Penticton Board of Trade Holds Extraordinary Meeting
The Penticton Board of Trade met at Steward's Hall last Saturday with many members present. They endorsed a proposal for greater representation in the Legislature through the Associated Boards of Trade but opposed southern division limits harming Penticton’s interests. A plan to advertise Penticton was proposed, with a committee to seek council funding, and the executive pledged continued active work for town interests.
